Getting to Washington Island is a little different. First, you'll drive through Door County. On this drive, you will go through cute towns quintessential to the area. If you have time, you should stop but know that the ferry has a last call at 6:30 pm. That’s right. Once you go through Door County, you will stop at Northport Pier. From there, you take the Washington Island Ferry, about a 30-minute ride across Lake Michigan with your car. You will take the Madonna, Washington, Robert Noble, or the Arni J. Richter (our ferry). The Washington Island Campground is the perfect base for exploring the island. It offers a variety of camping options, including 58 tent sites, 42 RV spots with electric and water hookups, and cozy cabins. The campground has modern amenities such as bathrooms, hot showers, and a camp store stocked with essentials. Additionally, there is a recreational area with a large swimming pond surrounded by a sandy beach, a playground area, a sand volleyball court, and a mini-golf course. Inside the main lodge, you will find newly remodeled bathrooms with toilets and showers, a common area with a pool table, a game room, and a coin laundry facility. Firewood and ice are available for purchase, and a dump station on-site is free for RV campers. They even have a setup for fishermen to clean their catch of the day.
