When it comes to skiing, I’m all about finding the right balance between staying warm, staying dry, and having the freedom to move however I need. After trying a few different brands, I finally landed on the Mammut Stoney HS ski jacket and pants, and they’ve quickly become my go-to on the mountain. Whether it’s a powder day or just cruising on some easy groomers, this outfit keeps me comfortable without ever feeling bulky or in the way.

Swiss-Made: Because who knows mountains better?

Okay, so Mammut is Swiss, which makes sense when you think about it. The Swiss live in the mountains. So when designing ski gear, it’s like they’ve had the perfect testing ground in their backyard. And trust me, you can feel it in the Mammut Stoney HS outfit. They know what works. Whether it’s keeping snow out or letting you move freely, this gear is made by people who understand what it’s like to spend a day in the mountains rather than a full-on blizzard day or a bluebird day. You can tell it’s built for skiers who want performance, comfort, and protection all rolled into one.

Mammut Stoney HS Jacket

This jacket is an absolute win for me. The Mammut DryTechnology Pro fabric has kept me dry through snowstorms, wet flurries, and falls. It’s also windproof, so I’m protected on those blustery chairlift rides when cold or windy.

• Fit & Feel: The fit is relaxed but not baggy. I’ve got enough space to layer when needed, but it doesn’t feel oversized. Plus, the fabric has a nice stretch and moves with me without feeling stiff. I don't feel restricted whether I’m reaching for a pole plant or adjusting my boots.

• Ventilation: On warmer days, the underarm zippers are a lifesaver. Just unzip them a bit, and boom—instant breeze. There's no need to stop and strip off layers mid-run.

• Storage: I love pockets. I’m that person who carries snacks, go-pro gear, and a my iPhone. The Stoney jacket delivers roomy hand pockets, a chest pocket, and a nifty little sleeve pocket perfect for my Epic pass. A quick swipe and I’m through the liftgate. There’s even an inside mesh pocket for my goggles.

• Hood & Powder Skirt: The helmet-compatible hood is functional, which isn’t always the case with ski jackets. It fits comfortably over my helmet and keeps the wind off my face without blocking my view. Plus, the detachable powder skirt is a nice bonus—perfect for those deep snow days when I don’t want to end up with a back full of powder.

The pants are just as impressive. I’m picky about ski pants, but these hit all the right notes. They’re comfortable, fit well, and keep me dry—what more can you ask for?

• Fit & Comfort: The pants have an adjustable waistband, which is small but makes a big difference. No belt is needed; just a quick adjustment and they stay put all day. They’re snug enough to stay flattering but roomy enough to allow easy movement. Thanks to the articulated knees, I can bend and move without that awkward bunching or pulling.

• Waterproof & Breathable: Like the jacket, the pants use DryTechnology Pro fabric, and they’ve kept me dry no matter the weather. The light insulation is great—it’s enough to keep me warm on most days, but I still have room to add a base layer when it gets cold.

• Vents & Gaiters: One of my favorite features is the side zippers on the thighs. I have used them often. You get hot sometimes, and it is nice to let some air in. The integrated snow gaiters fit snugly over my boots and do their job perfectly—no snow gets in, even on deep powder days.

• Pockets: There are just enough pockets to stash the essentials without overloading. Some zippered ones on the sides are perfect for my iPhone, nothing fancy, just practical.

The Stoney HS Thermo Pants are ideal for extremely cold conditions. They feature Ajungilak OTI Element insulation (60 g/m²) for lightweight warmth. These pants use Mammut's DRYtechnology Pro fabric, which gives them a 15,000 mm water column rating to ensure you stay dry in snow and slush. They’re also windproof, which makes them a reliable choice for harsh winter days​.

Even though these pants excel in cold weather, I don’t wear them as often because they can feel too warm on mild days or when the temperature is around freezing - below or above. The insulation can be overkill when I’m skiing in good weather or moving a lot. But when the temperatures drop, or a storm blows in, they’re a lifesaver. If you tend to run cold or ski in freezing conditions, these pants are perfect—like a warm cocoon without compromising movement or comfort.

• Fit & Practical Features: They offer the same great adjustable waistband as the regular Stoney HS pants, and the articulated knees ensure easy movement. Mammut’s Cordura reinforcements protect the seams from ski edge damage, while integrated snow gaiters with anti-slip grips keep powder out of your boots.

• Vents & Breathability: These pants feature side zippers with two-way openings for ventilation. This is super handy because, even though they’re insulated, I can easily unzip the vents when I need to cool off after a tough run.

• Durability & Storage: Mammut includes two water-repellent zip pockets for essentials, and the reinforced edges make these pants durable for seasons of hard use.

Design and color: Minimalist, clean, and stylish

One of the things I love about the Mammut Stoney HS ski outfit is the design. It has that sleek, minimalist look that feels timeless—nothing flashy, just clean lines and a well-thought-out design that works both on and off the slopes. It’s the outfit that makes me feel put together without even trying. Plus, the fit strikes the right balance between functional and flattering, which is not always easy to find in ski gear.

Then, there are the color palettes—I’m obsessed! Mammut nails it by offering a mix of bold and understated tones. For the 2024-2025 season, the Dark Marsh color immediately caught my eye. It’s a deep, earthy green that’s subtle but still stands out. If you’re not into bright colors but still want something with a bit of character, this shade is perfect. The overall vibe of the Stoney HS collection feels modern and effortless—something I can quickly wear from the slopes straight to après-ski.
